ACTORS WANTED: One-Act Plays About Love and Dating
Date Night China and Middle Kingdom Creatives are teaming up to take you to the theatre in this very special performance in Beijing! It will be perfect for a night out with friends and a unique date night that will certainly give you a lot to laugh about on the way home.

CASTING CALL
‘One Night Stand’ will be an evening of high-octane comedy, with six 10-minute plays about dating and love. The plays are comedies that range from poignant to zany, dramatic to droll, and have been selected from collections of the best US and UK short plays of the last 12 years.
Middle Kingdom Creatives is looking for a diverse group of six to eight actors, each of whom will act in two of the plays. We’re looking for adult actors of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and looks – the plays require great energy, pace, and comic timing, but are fully flexible in casting requirements.
As these are 10-minute plays, we’re looking for actors who can create character in seconds through their voice and body language, and who can deliver a convincing dramatic arc in a very short time… those skills are much more important than what you look like! It’s challenging, but it’s going to be a heck of a lot of fun!

ABOUT MIDDLE KINGDOM CREATIVES
Middle Kingdom Creatives (MKC) is dedicated to bringing the artistic community is Beijing together. Thus far projects have included a full-cast audio drama, live murder mysteries, and theatrical events (such as the Drunk Shakespeare production of A Midsummer Night's Dream this past December 2021). They are looking forward to producing One Night Stand: Six Short Plays About Love and Dating.

COMMITMENT
All actors must be based in Beijing and available to commit to the following:
15 January to 30 January – at least one rehearsal every week, time to be agreed by cast and director (evening or weekend)
31 January to 06 February – Chinese New Year – no scheduled rehearsals
Monday 07 February – off-book deadline
Monday 07 February to Friday 18 February – at least one rehearsal every week, time to be agreed by cast and director (evening or weekend)
Saturday 19 OR Sunday 20 (TBC) – daytime – full technical rehearsal
Wednesday 23 February – evening – full dress rehearsal
Friday 25 and Saturday 26 February – evenings – two performances
Sunday 27 February: hold for a possible third performance – matinee or evening (TBC)
AUDITION
We’d love to see you perform a 1 to 2 minute comedic monologue! We’ll not be assessing your camera skills, so cellphone videos are perfect! You're welcome to select any comedic monologue of your choice (no more than 2 minutes), or Nathan can provide you with the choice of two monologues.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
Please send your videoclip to Nathan from Date Night China. Scan his QR code below once you’ve recorded your video. Please send the video to Nathan along with a brief self introduction.
DEADLINE: Before midnight on Wednesday 12 January. We aim to cast the play by Friday 14 January.
